Manuals only ever quote min octane rating, so using a fuel with a larger dose of cleaning additives can only
be a good thing.

Well thanks for all the replies, guys...interesting differences of opinion!!
When I think about it, I suppose what I was really asking was "am I going to see any detrimental effect from breaking the habit of a lifetime?"
From what you've all said, it would appear not.....so from now on it's goodbye to Redex and hello to £2 a week in my pocket (my wife uses it as well 'cos she's old like me :woohoo: ) Sorry, Asda :whistle:

I work on piston engine aircraft and even with 100 octane fuel the injectors and inlet manifold still coke up......

Sorry but I don't see the logic there. If the manual doesn't mention something then it's probably not necessary.

The engines haven't really changed much over the years, no money in it like turbines.
