Ever since I first started driving, when a 'good' car had about 45 horses, I have always put Redex in with the petrol (we used to ask for "two shots"). And I still do.
However, someone recently wrote on here that Redex is "old school " !!!
So I was wondering...what do folks put in these days to keep their fuel system carbon-free?
And with modern fuels being so much cleaner than they were in the good old days, is there any benefit from adding anything at all?

I just avoid cheap petrol, I use BP ultimate 97'. The last 4 petrol powered cars I've owned have been filled with this and I always get great fuel economy and I'm sure they run better on it. Only had my latest Jimny a couple of months, a 55 plate with only 33000 on the clock, I gave it a major service including new NGK Iridium plugs ( ouch !) and stuck half a bottle of wynns fuel injector cleaner in the tank on its first fill up, its now running like a charm and I'm amazed by the economy, a full tank seems to last forever..

I only use BP Ultimate in both cars. The Jimny and a Honda Type S GT V-tec. Two very different engines
but the same result. Smoother running and slight improvement in mpg.
It has all the cleaning additives you need so no need to add anything.
If i only had the option of supermarket fuel locally, i would use something like Redex.

Put whatever petrol you want in it. If it needed additives or high octane fuel it would be specified in the manual.

To put it another way, I and probably 95% of the motoring public continue using standard petrol without any issues from things getting 'clogged up'. If fuel is contaminated that's a different matter, and no additive will fix it. But no part of your car will break, clog up or wear out from using standard petrol.
