I use an injector type cleaner every half year or so especially in the lead up to the dreaded MoT..........couple of quid at Morrisons............. and there are a few types to target a few sections. With Mitsy like Pinin and Junior, the throttle body is a pest and needs some cleanser. Apart from that an injector cleaner for me diesel Paj and indeed little Junior.

Put the octane rating to one side. The additives that do the cleaning are what counts.
I'm a Shell man but any of the big brands will be fine. Just avoid Supermarket fuel. It's cheap for a reason.
No need for Redex if you buy good quality fuel in the first place.

The fuel is injected downstream of the throttle body, so fuel additives will not help to keep it clean. Injector cleaner can make a difference on diesels but does not need to be used regularly.
Millions of people use supermarket fuel every day. There simply isn't any evidence to support what you are saying.

There is plenty of evidence in workshops across the country but no one is going to invest the time or money to put their neck on the legal chopping block and challenge a major company.
Why did Thorney Motorsport throw away sponsorship from Tescos 99 Momentum? You'll find them tight lipped about it but there was a reason that they found from prolonged use of it.
I know of the owner of a BMW diesel that needed new injectors solely due to having been run on Tescos diesel all its life. They were clogged up yet the car had been serviced as it should have at the same dealer that found it.
So the evidence is out there but if you were a dealer or an independent, you wouldn't take on the big company and why would you put yourself through it. You wouldn't. So it won't get publicised.
Moreover, two of my own cars have thrown up EML's over emissions when run on various Supermarket petrols. Two tanks of Shell and the light has never been seen again.
There's a reason that cheap fuel is cheap. It's not because the companies selling it are generous!

When my parents were the daily custodians of the jimny it only ever ran on shell, when I took over finances dictated asda. The thing is though that the shell station is upwards of 6p a litre more than asda which is significant. Also the shell maybe gets a fresh tanker every week or ten days whereas the asda gets 2 a week minimum. To my mind that makes the asda fresher and less likely to sit about and have things come out of suspension. Also if shell is so good at keeping the engine clean why did it take me nearly 6 months to get it over all the lack of proper use the car suffered under my parents. That said morrisons fuel is horrible, the defender will not run on it anywhere near as well as on asda and it is a 300tdi that will run on chip fat.

I doubt Shell is better than any of the big fuel companies like BP, Esso etc.
It's got the cleaners to maintain a clean fuel system and engine but not to solve problems I doubt. That's perhaps when your Redex and the like come in.
Again more evidence with your 300tdi there 11/60.
I'm fortunate that the two Shell stations near me are near a Tesco and an Asda, so they price match. There's an Esso the opposite direction to which we normally go and they give us our Club Card Points, so that's a winner. The Esso is often a penny cheaper than all of them. We're lucky therefore that we can buy proper fuel at Supermarket prices but I've seen it's not the case around the country.
