So if you got a non vvt linkage with the non vvt box would it fit just like it would on a non vvt car? Is that all that's needed to make them work together?
What clutch would you use or are they the same anyway?

Yes you need the non vvt box and complete linkage.
I used both vvt and non vvt linkages and used the bottom of the vvt linkage mounting plate welded inside the non vvt one. This is because the gearbox mount is on the opposite side of the cross member on vvt and non vvt.
Clutches are the same

Gearing is the interesting one though. I think if you use the electric transfer box then high range means fairly low top speed. I fitted a rocklobster but that would be even easier just to fit a manual transfer box. I sorted the wiring on the vvt so that the VAC hubs and 4wd light still worked.
The drive train would then be just like a non vvt gearing wise apart from having 4.3 diffs instead of 3.9. So a 10% reduction

Given the problems people suffer with these boxes there's probably a market for the linkage mod on its own as a product as a cheap alternative to a rebuild vvt box. Especially to someone who breaks Jimnys. Hint hint!
Selling non vvt boxes with a modified linkage with a deposit on the vvt linkage until you get the customer's linkage on exchange could be lucrative and benefit many people.

No need for a linkage mod the non VVT linkage is fine it's the mounting that needs modifying.
The only other part needed is the prop from the non VVT box as well.
It's the gearing that might be a problem??
I did consider fitting a 1.5 swift engine at the same time so that may overcome the gearing a bit??
My gearbox has been repaired with new bearings etc. 3 of them were worn but there is no damage to the gears. He said it was allowing the shaft to move around he also mentioned new "rings" but I presume he means synchros??
It goes back in the car tomorrow so I should get it back in the afternoon.
The price he quoted stands and I added a new clutch to that as well so app ã650 all in.
