Main stealer, still a ridiculous amount for a diagnostic!! And they seem to have got it wrong at vast expense to the OP
Its always worth researching the fault yourself these days before going to a garage, generaly find out most things about cars on the internet especially the jimny.at the very least you then go to the garage armed with abit of knowledge about the issue, which could result in abit of money saved (obviously you may be rich so dont care lol). You can get code readers pretty cheap these days aswell for home diagnostic checks. Most garages dont seem to charge much to plug your car in and read the codes, so not really sure what your excessive diagnostic charge was for.
Any luck testing the crankshaft sensor?

yes Ive had two different garages use the diagnostic machine, one said they could not find anything, and the other thought it was the lambsa sensor which was replaced!+ When the fault happens there is no engine management light coming on on the dashboard. Ive not been able to take the car out for two days as my cat has an injury and Ive got to keep an eye on her now! It seems since christmas everything has gone wrong!!! Im going to write to the managing director of Suzuki with a complaint and try to get my money back. I will look on ebay for the sensor as soon as I know that is what it is. Anyway I probably needed a new exhaust, so Ive got it now! I just wish I had a mechanic who is Suzuki knowledgeable somewhere near here (Im in Maidstone kent) if you know one, could you let me know. thanks

That sounds like a fuel supply problem, maybe a bad connection to the pump. Your Jimny is EOBD so you can get a cheap scan tool, if you log the RPM, injector pulse width and fuel trims and O2 sensor readings then you will be able to see if it suddenly goes lean despite the injector pulse width increasing. Most dealers will simply plug the tool in and check the parameters at idle, logging during a road test sometimes shows up problems that don't occur when stationary. If RPM goes awry then it could be a cam/crank sensor problem or a bad ignition system, a bad misfire is also likely to show up on the O2 sensor.
Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

I took Jimny out for a spin yesterday. It had a slight hiccup on the way back, but apart from that fine!
My husband has had a job actually seeing where the crankshaft sensor is, so any more info you can give us to actually identify it wouldl be good. Suzuki dealer trying to contact me to offer some solution of my complaint. I just want my money back.......!!!! I have to talk to them tomorrow to persuade them to do this, as the last thing I want to do is take the car back there. thanks for your support.
