Tail Happy Jimny? Better Tyres? was created by InDenial
Hi Guys - Almost had an incident the other day whilst driving between 50 and 55 on winding country road going round a fairly tight bend, mainly due to road surface being liberally covered with contents of farmers muck spreader, caught it in time to avoid coming out of the bend sideways..... certainly got my attention though :woohoo: . My back tyres are brand new Nexian Rodian All Terrain which have excellent reviews and grade highly as a wet weather tyre. Keen to hear of your similiar experiences and even keener to hear of your solutions e.g. best tyres, cornering techniques etc!!

I think it's just a case of drive to the conditions in the type of vehicle you are driving more. The short wheel base doesn't help on a Jimjam.
The roads round my way have been exceptionally slippery this year due to a lack of rain.
I think you were just unlucky in getting caught out and will need to put it down to experience. Many people complain about the standard Bridgestone Duellers too, so I wouldn't blame your tyres.
I bet your bum went 50p-5p though!

They all do that sir
Seriously they do. Been caught out a couple of times myself when it's been damp and I've tried to nip across a roundabout quickly from a standstill. The tail end quickly breaks away.
Just drive to the conditions with a soft throttle foot

I Have only had my Jimny on the road a couple of days and I find it the worst car I have ever driven. but I does depend on how you drive. my main driver is a Toyota celica . Nice and low and goes round corners like its on rails. Driving the Jimny has been a totally different thing. Slow round the corners or roll it over. Slow everywhere. Great fun little car. but gutless. top speed of 60mph and its reving its nuts off So no overtaking. Even pulling away it needs a boot full then there is the second gear vibration when lifting the clutch which is common to the jimny.
But I have never had so much fun. I got this car to replace my wifes Corsa. There aint no way she is going to like this.

You cannot compare the jimny to a celica
Chances if it falling over is slim, I have no ARB and drive like a rally driver........ive yet to fall over
Top speed of 60 is bull, ive had 85 out of mine and it was still goin allbeit slowly!! Ran out of bottle tho as it didnt feel attached to the road anymore specially on my mud tyres!
Definately interesting to drive in wet conditions but not to bad once u learn to corner barely on the throttle, on ice however EXPECT TO DRIFT ROUND EVERY CORNER unless u drive at 5mph but even then you could still hang the back out if you want
