I picked up the Panda on Friday. It is a 2008 Panda Cross.

First thing I noticed when I got in was how big it is inside. The thing is a tardis! Then I noticed that it is very comfortable. Lots of adjustments in the seats which are firm and provide support in all the right places especially the lower back which I found the Jimny was fond of punishing.

To bring it home I drove it 520 miles on £65 worth of diesel. This included a fair bit of back-road driving and trip up into a windfarm site in Galloway to do some work.

Driving up into the windfarm site I had to be a lot more careful than taking the Jimny into the same site. The Panda is very narrow so it couldn't straddle the centre strip. However, it made it up, including a three point turn on the track which would have probably been doable in the Jimny but would have been nigh on impossible in our Shogun. One large stone hit the bottom of the car, bit Fiat saw fit to put a sump-guard that is a significant lump of iron-mongery on the bottom so it survived without a scratch.

Not driven it in snow, mud or a flood yet, but so far I'm pretty impressed.

Looks cool. Will the customising addicts have room to mod and mend??

Looks interesting. I like the swift, but it looks like that has much less clearance than the Panda. Still, maybe if you had room to park a Swift and a Jimny?
