If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

We have a Rav4, it is a far better ride than the Jimny, miles faster, but in the Big Snow this year I got it stuck, the jimny just drove round it.
Most likely because the fat road tyres on the Rav aren't as good as the thin duellers, and the Jimny doesn't have an auto difflock that needs some slip to lock in.
But Jimny 1 Rav 0 at our house

"At work we have a fleet of Astra diesels - loathsome things, you have to drive it like you stole it,"
Ha, ha. Love it. My daughter had an Astra diesel and she drove it that way, it was nothing but trouble. Only 5 years old and I could be 5 minutes behind her but still follow her home. The crap that came out of her exhaust! Anyway, this is about Jimnys.

I totally agree. I find their reviews rather amusing, especially when you compare the Journo's opions to those of the owners who all rave about the Jimny. The fact there are so many on the road yet so few for sale shows how much popular they are.
People seem to forget how cheap the Jimny is. It's a £12k 4 seater 4x4. A Defender 90 Station wagon is over £24k, is far worse to drive, has terrible reliability, is less comfortable and offers very little extra in terms of space or performance. We own a Defender, and I know which I prefer to be in!
People also forget how small it is. Excluding the spare wheel, a Jimny is the same length and slightly narrower than a Citroen C1! When you read a review saying that a very small car is small inside too, you sort of think "who would have guessed?!"

It's good point and a big reason why I got mine. Even so compared to my 1990 Vitara it is way complex.
