Navara 06.. 2 flywheels and 4 clutch plates before 40k miles.. Last one has now made it to 65k and is still going strong.. Last flywheel was made of STEEL not rubber and springs and tin plate.. Oh yeah and they detained it as well... Now it does not do donuts in 4th gear n roundabouts... Chip fixed that though.
Has anyone thought about putting a chipped navara engine and box in a jimny.. 240hp and 470ft/lb of torque...

The real issue I have is not with the Jimny itself. Yes it has design faults, but what I really hate are the motoring journo's who trot out the same of rubbish in reviews of the Jimny; cramped, slow, cumbersome, old fashioned et al.
They seem to be obsessed in comparing them with modern "soft-roaders" and miss the point completely. Its horses for courses. You take a Jimny out into the rough, you don't take a Toyota Chav4 out to other than the leafy roads of Surrey to drop Johnny and Jessica to the local school.
I own a modern "euro-box" car and a Jimny. I hardly ever drive my sensible car, 99% its the Jimny (the Wife has the Skoda!).
As for Dual Mass flywheels, it cost me £1300 to have mine replaced on my Skoda TDI. A crap design and a real design fault IMHO

That is a very insightful observation. It is one of the things I like about them TBH.

That's a side effect of the drive to try and make diesels more and more economical, they use lighter components and then put a dual mass flywheel on it to stop you breaking parts then they tune the ECU to stop you breaking the DMF. At work we have a fleet of Astra diesels - loathsome things, you have to drive it like you stole it, if you forget and pull out of a turning, or onto a roundabout, as you would in a petrol car it will cut all power and then turn off the engine a moment later -very deangerous. As for the dreaded DPF light........
Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
