It was a local auto welder here in Barnsley. Does repairs for the MOT and the like.

A little far from Surrey though, sorry.

I've bought my own mig welder now but haven't done such a big job.

Re: Fuel tank. He dropped it a couple of inches then fed a wet rug over it.

What I would suggest if you do it or someone does it for you.
Watch your interior glass with the sparks from the trusty old angle grinder. Cover them or mask them off. I didn't and now I have slight pitting/burns in my rear side glass. Doh!

Three plates welded in the boot, one in each corner and in the jack tray, seems like a good job and he undersealed the boot floor to hopefully prevent things getting worse. For £70 I'm pleased.
