Depends what it looks like when finnished i spent nearly a £1000 on my other car on panel and paint work and 3 months down the line the panels are back to how thay was before plus thay painted it the wrong colour
i never let any one work on my cars unless i no them i wont even let the woman wash it lol

So just inspect what thay have done before paying and get an invoice

Seems too cheap. I guess they dont need to tit around with the fuel tank in your case though.

Just abit cheap it took me a day and half to weld mine up ane i no what in doing and i never took the tank out

He said he wouldn't need to touch the fuel tank, cash in hand job. He's done some panel work and paint for me before and its been v good. The rust isn't too bad anyway so if he can nip it in the bud for that money I'm happy :)

I got another quote for the welding today from a local garage and they too reckon £70, maybe welding is cheaper in the south?!

Anyway, I cleaned up the boot floor and under the rear seats today. Turns out the jack recess is fairly rusty although no holes as such

The floor under the rear seats looks ok, odd bit of surface rust. Does it look like the drain holes have been welded up or do they come like this?

That looks like they have been sikaflexed around the plugs. The boot floor recess where the jack sits is probably worse than it looks I bet. Chances are I think after scraping away at it you will find it will leave sizeable holes :(

Hope im wrong though.

Could be sikaflex but doesn't look like aftermarket paint which is odd? No plates etc welded in.

I'm sure once I start poking at the jack recess a hole will appear! It looks like there's enough decent metal to cut out and patch though.

I just can't believe a 2005 car would have boot rust, thought it was only the early ones!! I'm more worries about the rust in the corners as shown in my feat post, just hope its not too near the seatbelt mounts!

Ill let the bodyshop do the repair as first quoted as I'm guessing they'll be better at welding that the mechanic at the garage I went too today.
