This topic has been discussed a million times, be it on here, difflock and all the other forums.
I'm actually going to get to it and design a recovery point for both sides!
They'll be based on the mythical 3070-16, available from Japan.
I'm hoping to start drawing the designs up asap, and get the main shape waterjet cut out at work!
the 3070-16's are made from 6mm thick steel, painted in 'warning' yellow
Anyone got any views on materials? is it worth trying stainless? is 6mm enough?
The Water Jet can cut through pretty much anything, it'll just tie the machine up for longer on a johnny foreigner!
Also, the chassis looks fairly crude up front. How likley is it that one design will suit all?

I was going to have a crack at it but the guy who was going to produce them has let me down.
I would say 6mm is fine for the job.
Are you planning on knocking a few up for you to sell?

As I keep saying, I can get them manufactured through my supply chain, I just don't have a standard jimny to measure up a design and play with properly. The key being getting it to properly clear the bottom of a standard plastic bumper when a rope and shackle are attached.
A number of people over the years have said yes we can sort you the dimensions/design/prototype but it always fizzles out when I say "ok, send it over".
If you get a design, and even a prototype made up then I can get it properly manufactured and sold and we can talk about your "cut" on the deal!.

We'll see how the first ones turn out, and how willing the machine operator is to letting me knock a few up.
I'm hoping with the waterjet they turn out well... hoping to have them done and fitted for Wagtail
Although i'm not planning on getting too muddy. I'd rather just play around the edges
@ Martin, that sounds like a plan. I'm hoping to get something sorted soon. Have some thick card left over from my uni work to print my CAD drawings onto and make a mock up.
Have some ideas to further strengthen the Jap ones, how feasible they'll be i'm not sure... bending 6mm plate can't be a simple task!

The only thing i had thought of to provide more strength is to have a length of threaded bar between them to prevent them folding in as i would still be using a bridle.
