Then it dawned on me - I can strap to the towing hitch eye thingy. Duh.

And guess what.............................................made no difference; the knock persists so what next? Does it rule out the door/hinges???

suppose step 1. take off spare wheel ................ test for knocking

if still knocking

step 2. take off rear door ............. test for knocking

if still knocking

step 3. get someone else to drive, in case it's you that's knocking :silly:
