I've not been with you for a while!
After a few checks and they diagnosed my condition as AF, and i was discharged!
That evening, my wife (who is a Nursing Sister) found that the country-wide AF Specialist practised in our area, so she sent him and email and the following week (9th August) I was seeing him. Luckily (or not) I actually had an AF attack whilst i was seeing him, and his confirmed using Ultra-sound , Chest Echo and taking my Blood Pressure that it was indeed an AF attack.
23rd August i had the Catheter Ablation operation (look it up on Google) and have since made a complete recovery, so much that I was back at the Gym on 13th September
A crazy 6weeks!!
As to what caused it, the AF Specialist that it can happen to anyone, any age, at any time. Sometimes these AF attacks come on once or twice then never recur, but in my case i was getting them every 2-3days, sometimes even 2-2 times a day, even waking me up during the night!!
During the Ultra-sound and Heart Echo he said that my Heart was in perfect shape, and said that all the last 3-yrs of excellent exercise with my Personal Trainer had given me a very strong and healthy heart.
You are correct about the Fibrillation, but in my case it was the electric signals from the brain telling the heart to pump were going around the back of the heart, causing the Fibrillation, and when the Fibrillation started it was unstoppable ... quite a crazy feeling to know that your heart is "seeming" to be pumping flat out ... which it was, and to try to explain what it felt like ... imagine running 100yards as fast as you can and keep doing that for 5mins, but of course i was just resting ... during these AF attacks (like running flat out) i was seriously sweating but not being out of breath - quite bizarre.
In between the 9th August and my Ablation Operation (23rd August) i was on anti-AF drugs which stopped the AF attacks.
I had any easy choice:
* Take the drugs for life
* Have the Ablation Operation, and zero anti-AF drugs for life.

I just had a read on it :http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/atrial-fibrillation/Pages/Introduction.aspx - They say that the cause cannot be fully understood, which is a worry to some extent. Similarly at the moment they do not know why I have had a stroke at 36 with a good heart and good blood pressure and no furring of the arteries etc.
It appears I have thick blood but why it suddenly has become a problem now I don't know. At least it has made its self known in a way it can be treated and didn't kill me!
