Yes, due to popular demand we have organised a BigJimny Meet event on June 14th 2026 at  Parkwood 4x4 (a.k.a Tong) which is between Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire. This is a meet-up with 4x4 off-road drive around event. This is a social meet along with the opportunity to drive your vehicle off-road on a site where there is something for everyone. So its time to put it in your diary as this is a not to be missed event.

This is an event for all vehicles, from shiny to fully tricked up. It is also a social event with overnight camping and a great vibe for those wanting to simply hang around with fellow Jimny enthusiasts. The event location is Parkwood 4x4 which is often called "Tong", the postcode is BD4 0RR. This is one of the largest off-road sites in the UK and has a variety of firm tracks through to extreme testing terrain. There will be a burger van during the day for breakfast, snacks and lunch. We will be also organising toilets and wash facilities for the camping area.

All participants must be pre-booked, turn up ad-hoc on the day will not be permitted. General spectators are not permitted as there is only limited space. Everyone attending should have a seat in a booked vehicle and that seat should have appropriate safety provision (seat belt, child seat, harness etc.)

Booking is PER VEHICLE and it is £45, there is a multi-vehicle discount for VEHICLES BOOKED AT THE SAME TIME so gather your friends together and make a single booking to save.

Additional drivers/passengers with the same vehicle are free, we are setting the limit on tickets to 140.

BEFORE YOU BOOK - You can ask questions etc. in the forum here: - FORUM DISCUSSION

ONCE YOU HAVE BOOKED - There is a WhatsApp group just for this event (no Technical Support or general Jimny Chat) - Please email  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your entry number and mobile number to gain  access

VEHICLES

Trailered vehicles are permitted, however this is a family drive around event so do not come if you expect to blast around in a "scrapper". BigJimny and the site owners reserve the right to refuse entry to vehicles that appear to be little more than scrap. There has been a rise in recent events(not BigJimny events!) where people have brought along a scrapper to destroy, this is not what this event is about.

As with any motorsport or motor related event, there is a small element of danger. You are responsible for driving in a safe manner. The event is suitable for beginners and shiny cars but you should be aware that there is always a chance of a puncture or foliage scratches dependant on how you drive.

Here is a real little beauty we came across at the AWDC event at Hogmoor today.

2/6/08 - More drive train issues

Well following my day out and the June 2008 TV4x4 event at Avon Dassett a few more problems raised their ugly heads. We had a good days driving but it is a long haul back on the motorway for such a small, modified vehicle and it really took its toll.

Winch Problems!

We went down to Oxley's Shaw to help out on repairing some of the hazards on the site. Afther winching some logs I went over to the Bombhole to re-tension the cable onto the winch. The strain of winching the Jimny proved too much and the winch burnt out! It was not a difficult pull so something was wrong. I took the winch apart and it was entirely burnt out, I think that there was a problem with the brake and it was winching not only the Jimny but was fighting the brake, the winch was destroyed.

25/05/08 - Adding a CB Radio

CB Radio is used in offroading, either for keeping in touch on a Play site or whilst green laning. With all the switch gear and other dash board wiring there is no room below the dashboard for the CB. Therefore I had to find somewhere to fit the radio.

Another Shock Absorber mount gone!- updated

So having fixed the Offside Rear Shock absorber mount I (see HERE), I am now facing the failure of the nearside mount. Avid readers will remember that the Offside failed when the bolt unscrewed itself and fell off, stripping out the threads of the retainer on the way. I discussed this with other people and the believe is that the natural swinging action of the shock absorber loosens the bolt. I believe that on the Nearside mount the effect is opposite, with the bolt being continually tightened.

Over the weekend the Nearside rear shock absorber took a hit which finished off the rubbers inside the mount. I went to remove the shock absorber and found it impossible to shift the retaining bolt. Eventually the inevitable happened.......
