Its a Land Rover club, but all events are run on an open permit, so other makes can compete too. There are often a couple of Jimnys at some events. But would be quite a good location for you with events at Olney, Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard areas.

When I received my lift kit from BigJimny it came with a replacement steering damper, which i decided not to fit with the lift as I wanted to see what difference the lift and damper would make individually.
The lift has been on for a few weeks now so thought i would fit the replacement damper.
The old damper ball joint was very tight and took several blows with a lump hammer and ball joint splitter to get it off.
The new damper is bigger and possibly had more damping but it was hard to tell. It’s painted red and we all know that red means extra performance.
On the road there didn’t feel to be much difference, i suppose that’s the benefit of power steering. There is possibly more damping and the steering is possibly smoother, but it’s very slight.
So unless your existing damper is shot, i doubt it is worth the upgrade, unless like me it comes as part of the kit and new is always better than a 5 year old item.

I've got one here for mine yet to be fitted as I wanted to drive the car a couple of days beforehand to try and see a before & after difference. My kit didn't originally come with one but now they do. When I bought my Gen 3 I wanted the same kit but they only had the Gen 4 kit in stock however the springs and shocks are the same only the dampers are different. I kept the damper to go on my blue Gen 4 and ordered the correct damper for the Gen 3. I think my Gen 3 feels more sturdy than my LCV with the same kit fitted and steers better. Not sure if that is just because the Gen 3 has steering damper fitted or because the springs are newer so haven't bedded in yet or perhaps its just my imagination.

Don’t get me wrong James I think the Pedders lift kit is very good, I am very happy. From my point of view the handling is no different, but I have gained 45mm more clearance. My missus didn’t want me to have a lift kit, I think she was worried that it would be too high, but she didn’t even notice the extra height.
It’s just if you got a kit that didn’t include the steering damper, you probably aren’t missing anything, unless of course your old damper is a bit tired.
The Pedders steering damper could be doing more than I notice because it is masked by the power steering. I know when I went from no steering damper to a ‘Disco’ type unit on my Gen 3 it was like night and day, especially on the main road.

Fitted some front driving light protectors, they are ABS, but are fairly rigid and look the part.
They were supposed to be stick on, but despite buying the best 3M tape I could find to add to the tape already there they would have soon fallen off so I put 4 self tappers.
I am not fitting headlamp protectors, they are much further up and I don’t want to alter the beam pattern.
