Hi Monkey,

My Jimny is a 2009 vvt black, like yours. I'm into fitting bigger tires. Where can i buy that 20% reduction gears? It will fit my almost "showroom" Jimny? This might be cheaper than a full swap into a non-vvt or sj's... It will be perfect for my little pocket! And what tire size do you recommend? (sorry for my poor english)

Cheers

Hi Topjimny,

The gears can be purchased from a supplier of special Jimny gearsets. They replace 2 of the original gears in the transfer case, so yes they will fit your "showroom" jimny. Cost wise, you could do the SJ swap for around the same price as the TJ gears, of you know where to get the SJ parts cheap ;)

Tyre's, if you got the 20% gears i would recommend 30x9.5 r15.

Good point! But it's hard to find a good one here where i live! Specially the old one (without chain).

Thanks again for the info! Your Jimny is pure inspiration! Also like the DIY stuff! Trying to solve the gears now since i just found some cheap 31's. Just created a new post outside yours!

cheers,

Thiago
