Not directly related but the main bolts on avm ones are cap heads and as far as I am aware cap heads start at 10.6 so would be a suitable alternative. Certainly in the 90 thousand miles I have had them on Dreadnaught the only failure was internal and not related to either set of bolts.

Leviathan, barbarian, chaotic good.

It did have over 70000 miles on it at the time. Part of one of the bearing surfaces delaminated and was making an appalling noise.

Big end bolts are usually rated at or above 12 and no manufacturer would use them if there was any chance of failure due to shear.

From memory, the flanges, whether solid or manually engaged are located by 2 hardened steel pins which should remove any chance of shear?
