Confirmation - The "longer" spring is the front drivers side on RHD - Correct?

Hi,

Sorry as I know this must come up often but searching seemed to through up conflicting or ambiguous answers so would be grateful for confirmation of this, thanks.

Now I have my -30 modulars and Grabber AT's on, I'm reviewing my lift options and favoring a milder lift (for now) of only 1.5" using spacers but will be putting new standard springs on the rear if doing this option (the rear has a 1cm lean at present dipping on drivers side). I know some aftermarket shocks come same length which causes a lean and wanted to 100% this is the FRONT springs that should be one longer and not the rear - the rear the same length and no lean issues? So any aftermarket standard springs for rear will be OK?

Thanks.

The reason why you have found conflicting answers is because it depends on the lift kit you are considering.

Each lift kit manufacturer has their own solution (or no solution at all) for the Jimny lean issue.

A STANDARD JIMNY has the same springs on each side at the FRONT and different springs left and right on the REAR.

Some lift kits reproduce effect by having a longer one on the front drivers side and other reproduce it by having different rate or length springs on the rear. Some do not bother at all!

So no clear answer for you on the kits.

If you are just replacing the rears only then you are removing the standard springs which have lean compensation built in and therefore should consider how you will overcome this.

Many thanks for your comprehensive reply Martin, much appreciated. Given I already have a lean on the rear I suspect the springs on at the moment may be aftermarket ones of the same length (the car is at 77K so quite possible). I've already ordered a 15mm spacer to correct that lean meantime and could use the same on new coils if the same lean appears I guess.

Thanks Again.

On my pro comp kit. Rears are the same length, front driverside about 1" longer before fitting.
Sits nice and level.

As you know Procomp make shocks, not springs. They will probably be from some supplier such as

www.coilsprings.co.uk/

and sold as part of a Jimnybits kit.

Coilsprings will make up any spring you want.

Seeing as the kit is sold as Pro Comp lift kit, it is sensible to refer as it as such, is it not ! :)
