Be aware that overtightening as in the method you have used will probably result in the alternator bearings failing as too much side load being put on them.

maybe after market fan belts don’t grip as good as originals or have more elasticity .whatever but its wont stop screeching unless you get it real tight..

I was concerned about this (still am). Just going to hope for the best, and then deal with problems later when they arise. At least I've got AA and their parts replacement deal.

At work in big air handing units we use a spray called 'belt prep' which is sort of sticky cleaning agent for the rubber bets. it clings for about 6 months then re-apply. It totally eliminates belt squeal. Most bearing suppliers will have it for about £5. I use it on the work van all the time
