hello everyone, with my 2008 vvt gearbox making ominous noises, chattering noises and a dry bearing type noise,I have started to think along the lines of a reconditioned gearbox. On cam suzukis website,it says a properly rebuilt gearbox, using new genuine Suzuki parts.Has anyone bought or had experience of these recon, boxes.Just wondered how good they are.Thanks,Phil.

If it's the same cam Suzuki that's on eBay who sell starter motors for about £50 then I had a starter off then and it sometimes plays up like the old one did. Obviously that's just 1 review but as for the gearboxes I've no idea, maybe James has one on here? He has almost everything else

thanks, think it might be better to have it rebuilt by a gearbox specialist, cam Suzuki seems to be more of a breakers, then reconditioners, bit too much of an unknown issue for my liking, also I seem to remember an item somewhere saying their business was up for sale, Thanks for your comments.

I see on ebay they have dropped the price to £724.
That's app £200 less.
Probably they've read Martins post lol

As has been said, I had mine reconditioned by a gearbox specialist for a fixed price £360 for labour. On top of that I paid around £140 for parts.

I also chose to pay for them to remove and refit the box which was extra at £280 making the total £774 which included all the work so I had to do nothing myself.

The only downside was that they did not appear to be in any hurry to do the work at all. It took 2 weeks instead of the one week promised.

It was 3D Transmissions in Reading, Berkshire
