I had the dreaded 3rd and 4th gear noise. I looked at recon boxes way too much money. Took the box out figures out which bearing was making the noise. Replaced them for about £70 2 bearing all together and then put it all back. Apart from about 3 days labour by myself it only cost me £70. Was a bit tricky butting box back together and then getting box back in jimny was a little stressful. i have some pics on this forum somewhere.

Did you need any special tools eg pullers/press?
I only ask as the ebay rebuild kit is good value but useless if you need specialized kit to strip it?

thanks,I dont have access to special tools or a press,but am confident in my ability to replace parts,as long as no special tools or presses are required
