If in doubt ...... Flat out ??

Is the fuel tank venting ok ? No whooshing noise when you undo the filler cap
Un plug the wiring plug on the injectors and measure the resistance of each injector. Should be all roughly the same.
Are the plugs very wet when you take them out or dry ?
Very wet plugs would lead me to think it's over fuelling - possible air or coolant temp fooling Ecu in to thinking its -40 etc.
Cam timing wether it's a belt or chain has got to be worth a check

150psi is reasonable for a cold engine, that would indicate that the valve timing is OK. Have you performed a fuel pressure test?

Morning All,
Spent some more time yesterday on the Jimny, and this is where we are:
Fuel pressure still really good
Rechecked timing and all is in order
All earths clean and tight
Changed filter and hose to MAP sensor
No problems with fuel tank venting
Injectors still check OK
Decided to replace plugs again - noticed that when taken out, were very black at tips as well as appeared damp with fuel. Replace them and after getting the engine started, ran for a while then took out one again to check it. New plug was very black! Also wet with fuel for the short time we ran the engine.
Coolant temp sensor?
Sensor in air filter?
Any ideas, please let me know.
Mike

Have you tried fresh fuel, in case you have pick up contaminated fuel.

Well it sounds like it's dumping fuel in. Since you've tried an ECU, throttle angle sensor, injectors etc it kinda leaves only the 2 temp sensors. Might be worth just replacing both of them.
Sounds like something is fooling the ECU in to thinking it's bloody cold hence the amount of fuel getting dumped in

Don't get bogged down in the white smoke thing, it could just be steam and as you stated it died suddenly.
If you put fuel in manually and it starts it is not the head gasket. You have a fuel delivery problem, as the injectors will just do automatically what you are doing manually. I accept if no vacuum induction a normal carb motor might not want to draw fuel but not an inject motor it would just flood the engine and wet the plugs which is not happening.
Focus on fuel delivery. Check your fuel, when did you fill up!!! Is it diesel in the tank???
Think simple my friend. It generally is.
hope helpful
