Yes it happens when off road. I did think it might have so,etching to do with a knackered bearing or a steering problem??Any thoughts

It is a push button change

I slow down for the flooded parts, I want to know if you would advise driving on a country back road with 4wd on at around 60mph and if it would damage anything by doing so? I have used it on wet roads a lot and it doesn't seem to complain or get sticky...I just don't want to damage anything intricate

I would not be able to diagnose it without seeing for myself I don't think.

What about using 4wdh on a straight line duel cartridge way at 70mph in WET conditions? Is this ok?

It sounds like you have already damaged something in the transfer box, do your hubs click in and out correctly when changing from 2h to 4h? Does your 4wd dash light come on properly or flash?

As mentioned earlier only use 4wd on slippery surfaces mud, snow, ice

It does sound as if you have already damaged something.
Do not use 4WD on the road unless it is deep snow/slush or serious ice.
Off road just use 2wd until you feel you are losing traction.
Let the car decide if you need 4wd by feeling for loss of grip.
The Jimny can go a long way in all conditions in 2wd.
It's either jammed in 4wd or you have a damaged transfer box.
Are all the 4wd lights going off??
At a standstill try selecting 2wd and reversing or rocking the car back and forwards to see if it releases.
There are warnings in the handbook and on the sun visor about ONLY using 4wd in slippery conditions.
The Jimny 4WD CANNOT be used on tarmac wet or dry!!

Not quite sure if you have chosen the correct car for what you want to do??
You'll need to get it checked out but VVT gearboxes can be fragile and are very expensive to replace.
The main point is the Jimny is not designed to be used permanently in 4wd.
It is not a "fast" car and is happier at lower speeds.
There are all sorts of dire warnings about 4wd on the Jimny on tarmac wet or dry.
You should be looking for a car that is permanent 4wd or,at the very least, has a centre diff. The Jimny doesn't so you need a slippy surface to stop the wind up.
You have to remember the Jimny was designed in the mid 1990's and by today's standards is an old car and while capable of being an excellent off roader it's no Range Rover when it comes to speed more old landrover lol.
