craig999 wrote: Wow  people are patronising on this forum why would someone who has owned a Jimny for over a year not know that it’s a slow car, and I don’t see anything about him wanting to keep the car in 4wd permanently

I thought his forum was about offering constructive advice

"70mph in 4wd will not be good for the Jimny. At slow speeds on slippy ground the transmission can unwind itself. At 70 even a small corner will add lots of wind up and the distance traveled is much greater also at higher speeds it's harder to unwind and probably dangerous"

This information actually slightly more relevant and is more helpful, thank you

Well in that case the answer is no as I wouldn't even consider it.
You have just said that the job you do requires a Jimny or 4wd system.
Why are you ignoring the advice given and trying to get the Jimny to do something it isn't designed to do??
I'm just trying to be helpful in pointing that out and I think you'll find that no one can give you any real advice from a fault point of view as if it is used as it should be it doesn't occur.
I saw that you are a fresh boarder and may not have been aware of the limitations of the Jimny hence the reply.
I'm not trying to tell you how to drive or what car you should get.
No offence was intended.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

You thought wrong. you personally don't speak for every user of this forum. I am aware of the limitations

I am merely wondering if any one (or knows a fellow jimny driver) who has used their jimny at 60-70mph in 4wdh had a machnical fault as a result. THATS ALL

That's a bit rude to someone who is trying to help!!

Ok I await all the replies from Jimny owners who have driven at 70 mph in 4wd on tarmac roads wet or dry and can pinpoint the fault.
