As Jezz says, it sounds like the gearbox mount.
Noise/vibration problems can be very hard to diagnose, especially if you aren't familiar with the car, so don't blame the mechanic!
The way to check the gearbox mount is to get underneath the car and see if you can lift the back end of the gearbox.

Start from basics and the clutch.
The Jimny clutch is manually adjusted and needs a couple mm slack in the cable so that you can feel a small amount of free movement on the clutch pedal before it actually starts to disengage the clutch.
If that is ok, as has been said, the rear gearbox mount needs checking as these are a known fault.
The Jimny has 2 gearboxes. The normal one and what is known as a transfer box which is the one that engages 4WD via the lever or push buttons on later models.
Inside the transfer box is a chain which can get worn.
A lot depends on how your car has been used.
If it has had a hard time off road any of these could be the problem.
If it has always been on the road and been serviced fairly regularly it's unlikely to be anything serious.
Just check that you are in 2WD and 4WD hasn't been accidentally engaged??

De-laminated engine / gearbox mount that caused mine to feel like it was juddering or 'fluttering' when setting off under load as you describe...
On mine you can see how the gearbox could judder around as the metal mount had come away from the rubber it was bonded to...
These are available cheaply here in the BigJimny store - www.bigjimny.com/store/index.php?_a=product&product_id=215
And take less than twenty minutes to fit -
New mount in place and you can see the three bolt holes...
The middle one bolts into the underside of the gearbox, and the other two bolt the mount to the crossmember...
Simple! Just a socket set and a jack to lift the gearbox a little so you can swap the mount for the new one...
Hope that helps!

Let us know if you find the problem.
My does the same and I've replaced the gearbox mount and the transfer box is fine.
I'm beginning to suspect the main engine mounts may be going a bit soft.
Going for a play in the forresty on Sunday. See what happens when it's pushed.
