Ah, ok.

For some reason I thought the vacuum was measured in mmHg.

I'm going to have to have look at my hubs again this weekend. Got to take my wheels off and swap them anyway.

2" Trailmaster suspension lift, 2"body lift, snorkel, full breather kit, 29" steel wheels with BFG tyres, tinted rear windows, CRT CB radio with modulator antenna mounted on rear, dog cage and tray in the back.

It can be measured in lots of different units but the Suzuki manual uses kPa note the small k while my vacuum / pressure pump has two vacuum scales kPa and in Mercury.

I'm averse to manual hubs/too lazy to get out! :D

By pressurized I mean compressed air....I have ARB F/R lockers so compressed air is available.....it takes very little to guarantee the hubs engage/disengage on mine using low pressure.

I'll have a look first and see what's in there prior to converting.

Well....I've never seen anything like the front wheel bearing arrangement in a Jimny, not sure I even saw what I saw when I changed them this week.

So they were a little slow engaging and disengaging......anyhow I went into the mud and slop in 2WD and whimped out and went to 4WD in the middle of the slop......It took a huge gulp of said slop and pulled it through the the front bearings as the seal I've never inspected on the inside of the hub must have been on it's last legs, and indeed it was mostly not there!

So who's idea was it to have an open double AC bearing on an off-roaders front hubs which are submerged in muddy slop.....crazy.

Thanks to Bigjimny for sending the bearings out quickly......I even bought the tool! which is unusual for me :D

I still can't believe the front bearing layout.......freewheeling hubs needed now so I can pack the bearings with grease!

The bearings and seals are arranged in the same manner on most 4x4s are they not? E.g. bearings between hub and spindle, oil seal on inside, hubcap on outside. They certainly are on Defenders.

Do Defenders have vacuum hubs? I thought they had a centre diff and full time 4wd......they'd break even quicker if they had vac hubs :D
