Spending a couple of hundred more than I wanted to, but it's worth it in the end.

Did you need any extras with that, like panhard rods to align the axles or rear shock repositioners to take stress off the bushes? Did you notice any difference in the steering or how it felt whilst driving?
How long did it take you to install the kit, s it a morning's work? Did it make a difference to your insurance premium?

Whether you need new panhard rods or not depends on what springs you get and weight of your Jimny.
Installation takes a couple of hours if you know how to use basic tools and have a a jack and axle stands.
Don't know anything about insurance.

unclip brake lines, fuel hose and slackening wiring looms,
loosen handbrake,
I didn't do any of the above when I fitted my body lift, possibly a little worrying but it's been fine.
I have a 2" body and 2" pro comp suspension lift with muds on offset wheels and to be quite honest my jimny doesn't drive all that different with 4" lift its a little more rolly round bends I suppose.
I will say contrary to what most are saying I'm very happy I did body lift as it makes things more accesable when working on it and it's alor easier to clean after off-roading as there's a nice gap between the chassis and body so crap doesn't sit in there as much

I personally don't mind the body lift. The fact is serves a purpose like allowing you to fit bigger tyres as well as other practical uses, like you mentioned, means it does have value to someone like me on a budget. I'm still going to consider it when I have a bit more time as it does involve a little bit of non-standard work.
Did you leave the anti-roll bars on and did you fit the steering spacer?

You're absolutely right. A body lift does serve a practical purpose. But it doesn't need to be 2" for that. 10 mm of lift makes a lot of difference. As you say, easier to clean etc..
