Hi Guys,
I'm currently hovering my finger above the buy button for 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift, got one of those itches that needs scratched. I know, after sifting through a load of posts here on the forum, that there is a few extra things that need to be done:
longer flexible brake hoses,
steering spacers,
earth wire from engine to bulkhead,
unclip brake lines, fuel hose and slackening wiring looms,
loosen handbrake,
relocating bumpers after body lift.
I also want to fit a lockright on the rear diff.
I'm trying to plan the time it would take to do all this in my head, as my only other form of transport is my motorbike. I just wondered if there's anyone who has carried out a similar project would like to share the time scale the entire operation might take and if there are any special/specific tools that might be required during the process. I'm guessing spring compressors are a good start.

Loose the bodylift and stick with the 2" lift.
Perhaps with Diesel springs instead. Or maybe go with a 3" lift.

I am not a fan of body lift as although they lift the body off the ground further, they don't lift the chassis off the ground any further.
One of the things that Jimnys get stuck on are the radius arm mounts, which are also susceptible to damage - hence guards are sold for them.
I would either decide that a 2" lift is all that is needed or spend the money and get a 3" lift and castor correction arms to go with it. I would not try to make a up more lift through a body lift.
Of course you will be able to fit bigger tyres on with a body lift, which will in turn lift the chassis up but not as much as bigger tyres and that little bit more of a lift. Believe me, from experience, it makes a difference.
I wouldn't go too mad and do a 3" lift and a body lift though. The centre of gravity is high enough on a 3" lift. People do it and are happy but I think it's one step too far.
Just decide what you want from the outset or you'll waste money buying things twice over.

from your post I'm guessing you want to continue to use your Jimny for plenty road use ?
in which case I'd say you're making the right call re sticking with a 2 inch suspension lift and adding a 2 inch body lift for extra clearance to stick bigger tyres on either permanently or as required.
everyone telling you to go 3 inch is probably an offroader with other road cars, above 2 inch the jimny suffers on-road.
just my thoughts
edit: good advice given to me was to spray existing brake line couplings, body lift mounts, shock bolts etc with wd40 or similar, spary a couple of times a week a few weeks before you do the job.

Don't you need to compress the springs before you can take them off? I'm not a mechanic, but I would have thought releasing the stored energy in the springs would be a good idea.
