Would a faulty gearbox mount cause stiff gear changes?

Would a faulty gearbox mount cause stiff gear changes? was created by minibbb
As above please gents- when I had my clutch changed the mechanic mentioned the gearbox mount was worn. I've noticed recently sometimes I have nice smooth gear changes whereas other times it's stiff and unpleasant.
First and reverse can also be hard to select and I get the groan on pull away which is apparently indicative of a worn mount.
Any thoughts appreciated!

Was that all the gears harder to engage mate?
Hopefully the new mount will fix it!

Anyone else able to say whether this is the likely cause of poor gear changes?

I found my mounting apart when I removed the gearbox recently. I had only driven the car 9 miles or so from where I purchased it and the gear changes were normal. It could cause problems I guess but it is worth checking. If you can lift the rear of the box up until it hits the tunnel then more than likely it has gone. If you read one of my threads(G13bb engine queries) I have given the details of where and how much I paid for mine compared with the dealers.
