Don't want to rain on your parade but you might want to have your emissions checked, wifey had a car that was misfireing due to a faulty coil pack and this led to the cat glowing a cherry red, (the hottest car part I have ever seen ). At The next mot if failed on a wrecked cat caused by the misfire.
Mind you, it was a Citroen
