Don't forget to clean the old gasket off the block. Do not use anything sharp, I just used a plastic scrapper.

I suggest you get one. They are cheap enough off the old ebay.
It would be a good idea to flush the rad and block out with clean water as you have it stripped out and oil and filter change after it is all finished too.

Yes' I would do all of that as a matter of course.
It's the valve and rocker stuff that is concerning me, it's whether I can put the whole lot back together.
