Goodwinch TDS 9.5c. Great service from Goodwinch and excellent which.

Better get one good battery than 2 cheap ones.

What's your budget.

I have a 250A splitcharge system :) Jimnybits tray and I robbed a near new battery from the wifes freelander2 which is brilliant and just fits!

All my non-essentials are now running of the 2nd battery and only the engine/lights etc run from the original battery which I upgraded to the best sensible money can buy (Bosch S4)

I have a nifty little switch which overrides the split charge and manually connects the two batteries together so I can use this if I need some extra umph to start the engine...

Problem I have now is with two winches, two batteries and a whole heap of heavy duty cables and electrical bits its starting to look like a power station under my bonnet! :)

If it's a true Optima Yellow top it's around 700CCA.

Optima Red tops are better for winching, but now you've already got a Yellow top, best just to get another one.

If you want twin batteries mainly for winching, forget about split charging relay. Waste of money.

I run a twin motor Warn 8274, twin batteries, standard alternator, doing winch challenges. We do lots of long pulls with the winch. And not once have I every had trouble cranking the engine due to low battery power.

Instead, if you get a TDS 9.5c winch or any other of decent quality. You may want to consider a Goodwinch Turbo controller for the winch. Greatly increases pulling power and speed :)

Regaring alternator, is it necessary with a bigger one?
I'm considering different options. Also just getting an extra standard Jimny alternator. This way you have some redundancy if one of them fails.
