If you are thinking of changing it then it would be worth trying to sort the existing which has clearly been neglected. We bought a used one and had the same problem. You can download an exploded diagram and it is not difficult to see how it is meant to function. Penetrating oil a cup of tea then a whack with a rubber mallet should extract the towbar which if cleaned with some wet and dry paper then smeared with grease will make it very easy to atyach/remove.hth

That's like mine which is a witter detachable stowbar which is in turn a rebranded gdw from Belgium. I like mine because the two top holes where you clip the breakaway cable to happen to be wide enough apart to take the loop of my 7 tonne recovery strap and so with a trailer pin out of a tractor I have a rear tow point without needing the actual ball in place.

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

It's the same as mine I just fitted , it's from BTH just needs a bit of grease but good idea to be removable so I can use as a tow point

Well unfortunately from my asking around it looks like you can't get a fixed neck to replace my detachable one as now the whole unit has to be type approved and rated, so it looks like I will be saving up for a new complete bar setup.
Has anyone else had any luck?

When I was having trouble with the towbar on dad's terios I was on the phone to a senior technical bod at witter, what he was saying was that they make the fixed and detachable necks to a uniform size to save on manufacturing costs and to allow the same neck to be used on a selection of different vehicles as the designs allow the only specific bit being the actual bar that bolts to the car. What that means is that the same bar has type approval for the vehicle with either neck. Allegedly. This all sounds plausible but could just as easily be the bloke at witter telling me what he thought I wanted to hear to get rid of me asking awkward questions.
