MOT went well except the back brakes were out of balance, the nearside low compared to the offside. Strange that all the work I did on the car the only thing I did on the back brakes was to remove the drums and inspect for leaks and lining wear. The drums came off equally as well as each and went back on OK. So much for the self adjusters! So ,weather permitting, I will whip the wheel and drum off and ensure the piston is nice and free and tweek the "self adjuster" on the nearside.
As I use this garage a lot for the families cars I know the testers, they are honest and competent so I asked the tester what he would do and how he interprets the rules as regards people removing the ARB and presenting the car for test. As he reads the rules and regs, he said he would fail the car as being unroadworthy.
