Anyone within easy driving distance of me have a hydraulic press in their garage. Need a few bushes pushing in as part of my rebuild.

I'm nowhere near you but have access to one - mine took less than 3 tons to push into the original arms so you'll not need a big one Martin, if that helps.

I read somewhere, possibly on the ORA website or more likely a post by Rob on Shropshire Suzuki that the ADK bushes you and I have are harder to push into his arms than genuine ones, so I don't know if you will find it harder, nonetheless I should think a 10 ton press will be plenty.

It's getting them out that takes alot but I cut them out like on your guide and you don't have that issue yet! Thats for a few years time hopefully for you!

Don't you have a local garage that will do it for beer tokens?

Has anyone bought one of those presses from ebay that looks like a hydraulic jack mounted in a frame, are they any good?

Hi Martin

Did you try a local garage as I suggested?...

If you have enough time and have nothing better to do, you could make a press... it would only need to be a simple welded gantry with a hydraulic bottle jack inside it...

but getting a local garge to pree them would be much much easier...

Rob,

I think I am all out of favours with the local garages, nowadays when I am spotted approaching with some oily parts in my hands they rush out and lock the doors!

I do have a local engineering contact who rebuilds gearboxes and has all the kit but he is so embarrasingly heplful I feel more and more guilty about approaching him.

Therefore, with my changing all the bushes in the arms, the Panhard Rod bushes and getting through a couple of wheel bearing each year (and also with my son starting to look at Jimnys for his first car) I decided to invest in one of these at the weekend....

Although strangely its coming up with a higher price than I paid only yesterday.

I chose a more expensive branded one as opposed to the "bottle jack" ones as I decided in my mind that the "10 or 20" tonne ratings on those is likely to be based soley on the performance as a bottle jack and doesn't apply to the framework etc which is probably as cheap as possible whereas the Sealy one probably actually achieves 10 tonnes with ease and will not fall to bits within a few weeks.
