its down the back of the engine
you could unbolt it off the head and make a metal gasket
and bolt it back on or there is a small pipe on the exhaust manifold
so you could block that off

its on the back of the head on the twin cam engine
and there is a metal pipe off it that goes to the inlet manifold
why block it off I block them off all the time on diesel engines
as they just block up with shit and you get low power and black smoke
+ they put exhaust gas into your inlet and block it up with black carbon crap

look at this on ebay this is the egr eBay item number:

I dont have my jimny at hand to get a picture but its on the back of the head against the bulkhead can be fiddly to remove,i had to use the1.3 egr when i was fitting the m16a when swapping i blanked it off first laning trip out the eml came on with a code for egr, this haplened quite regular so i unblanked it didnt see any gains from blanking it off didnt notice any difference in mpg ect.cleaning it wont hurt but if it hasnt got a light on or a code for it id just leave it.

I would not just remove the EGR for a couple of reasons

1. There’s a possibility the computer will get it’s kickers in knot with emissions/mix/timing
You could try and see what happens
2. It’s probably illegal in your country, I know it is in Australia
Your call, none of my business
3. Some seriously evil gases come from the engine blow-by. You really don’t want to breathe that crap in. Having done it years ago, when sitting at the lights it stinks, and of course it’s carcinogenic.
4. The EGR is set up as a vacuum loop through the engine galleries, and reduces pressure build up internally. Not having that scavenging effect can lead to oil leaks and gasket blow outs.

The idea in principle is good, re-burn all those nasty gasses. But it goes wrong as the engine wears and it starts sucking in a lot of heavy vapours which coke the valves, make smoke come out of the exhaust and ironically feed back into the EGR system making an exponential loop of crap build up in the engine.

I’ve had engines with issues and I’m holding off on getting it rebuilt so I can drop the whole drive train e.g. gearbox, universals and diff ETC to do all at one time.

To keep the smoke, and smell down I’ve used an oil catch can. This let’s the carcinogenic gas get re-burnt, but stops the heavy oil vapour create the build up of crap in the engine.

Having seen really gunged up inlet tracks and valves, I’ve already got one ready to go for the Jimny once it’s out of warranty.

You’ll read a lot of stuff about how only turbo engines can get value from them; I don’t think this is true. Even a normally aspirated car will get a build up of carbon across the inlet and exhaust valves from basically running as a two stroke.

In Australia if your car is spotted blowing smoke it’s an on the spot fine, and then a trip to the inspectors, I recently helped a mate fit a can just to stop the smoke at initial take off.

In the attached image I’ve found a spot for mine, down the bottom front left. It will sit next to the water bottle, then run back up to the firewall and then down to the EGR.
