Try wiggling the wires in the rubber boot from the car body to the rear door.

It could be that the wire is broken inside the insulation. The wiggling it may briefly make the connection.

My money would be on something being broken there.

It's not necessarily the age of the vehicle but how often the rear door has been opened and shut!

I never thought about that. I'll give that a try today.

2" Trailmaster suspension lift, 2"body lift, snorkel, full breather kit, 29" steel wheels with BFG tyres, tinted rear windows, CRT CB radio with modulator antenna mounted on rear, dog cage and tray in the back.

Hello Gents,

quick update on the post. I found the fault, and as mentioned previously by yourselves, it was at the rear door hinge rubber boot area. A couple of wires have totally broken off, the earth wire for my hi level brake light and also another wire going to the rear wiper motor, which I'm guessing is the timing signal to the motor being that my wiper stays on constantly when switched on, with no rest period.

Thanks for your help. I might just leave all the trim off and get a towbar/speakers fitted whilst I'm in amongst it all.
