I've got es1000's they are fine for my needs I've also got rhinoray rear shock spacers and have no problems with the rear shocks rubbing.

both procomp and rough country are american shocks designed for the american market,
procomp have a range of es1000 3000 and 9000
Rough country had a range of H8000 and N9000 (now merged to N20)
procomp es1000 are classed as stock shock replacements for american spec 4x4's so are the softest riding compaired to the rest as they are designed to be a stock replacement shock and more forgiving for general road and offroad use
but this ES1000 is still stiffer than the jimny shock due to the size generally of 4x4 in the states
ES3000 are similar to H8000 and N9000 similar to ES9000
now rough country have merged them into 1 shock the N20 gas charged shock
the N20's from rough country are now specifically valved for particular vehicles so will give a great ride on the vehicle they are designed for, luckily a few of the N20 shocks are thin enough to fit a jimny hence they are available to buy, but i dont know what model of american 4x4 they were originally designed for.
the procomp range is the same damping rates throughout the different lengths
the Rough Country shocks, one shock 1" longer than the last one could be a different damping rate as they are valved to suit an actual model

Yea i get what your saying, does anyone know what 4x4 these shocks were originaly designed for?
So would the es1000 be a more suitable shock for a more softcore offroader than the n2.0? I dont want it to be a rock solid ride as its my daily driver and not really planning on any really hardcore offroading, mostly road use and green laning.

Don't know what you want the information for.
The N2.0 may seem like a very firm shock. But I don't find it too firm. I am now able to go over speedbumps without letting go of the throttle. That was not possible before, when I had the OME shocks. They would bottom out, and generally a poor ride.

2-3" front = 94-01 dodge ram pickup
2-3" rear = 83-97 ford ranger
4-5" front = 94-01 dodge ram pickup
4-5" rear = jeep yj wrangler / mazda pickup
thats the few ive just searched its seems the shocks fit around 3 model each

So the n2.0 that fits the jimny was originaly designed for a truck that probably weighs twice as much!?could this have something to do with why its so firm?
I agree with you about stock suspension the ride is pretty shocking even on road, have to slow down for speed bumps feels jolty as hell! Offroad you feel every stone.
