One question:

Item-7 and Item-8 ... are they both in the axle housing

7 is the oil seal and 8 is the oil splash shield.

Both normally are inside the end of axle when you pull the shaft out.

Sometimes the splash shield is missing if the previous owner or garage have lost it.

Thanks Martin - my splash seal was missing  ... maybe that is why i had one on the shelf?

Today it falied MOT on 'poor rear brakes' ... N/S Drum was a bit wet with axle oil ... Hopefully this will fix it.

Tomorrow's job is to look at the O/Side.

Interested to see how you get on with this, mine' had poor rear brakes, pedal and hand brake last two years. Drums nice n dry no crud nothing seized, put another new set of shoes in last week, still the same. Wondering if the drums are over worn?
