I'm not advocating not changing the belt as I think it should be changed as suggested but it the single cam engine and interference engine or not. I know the old SJ410 wasn't but it's not the same.
Just wondered if anyone knew. I've never heard any stories of cam belts breaking on Jimjams to know the outcome.
I've heard of lots of stories of broken cam belts on LR 200+300tdi's but they out number Jimny's somewhat.

I read somewhere that the Jimny's engine is not an interference engine.
So in theory, if the belt does go, nothing major should break...?

According to wikipedia (and searching on here) the G13BB engine is non-interference. (Though opinion is divided!)
So (if you believe the internet) if it does go, no major damage should result, and a head rebuild shouldn't be necessary. Up to you! I wouldn't risk it for the cost of a belt change personally, even if it is non-interference.
