As your Jimny is a soft top and fairly early its almost certainly the 'G' series engine, which is the single cam engine very similar to the Vitara. The M series is a dohc engine.

Look forward to seeing how it progresses!

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15

Yup, it's single overhead cam. So, will that mate to a G series Vitara auto (with a big drill to ease it's insertion!)?

I didn't get on with Kap - they were singularly unhelpful enquiring about my Vitara. I've known Ray Edwards for years - so maybe I'll pay him a visit next week as he's fairly local.

Hi Simon and welcome to Bigjimny!

I'm not much use with the technical side but perhaps it'll be your Jimny I'll be photographing next season!

What series do you plan to enter it in?

Do a search on this forum for Cam Suzuki to see others experiences before buying from them. Ray's a good chap and I think he may have done Toyota axles on a Jimny and played with various transmissions.

Thanks Rob,
Was yours the Jimny that was at the Scotia Challenge in January? If it was, and it looks similar to your Avatar, this whole project is your fault!

My plan is to enter some of the Challenger4x4 series and James Trembath's events - as time permits. Even though we're sponsoring C44 this year, to many of the challenges have clashed with shows or other commitments so signing up for a whole series is a bit of a non starter!

I'd like also to do one or two of Mud Monsters events - which look quite fun!

No that was not I. I shall look forward to seeing it compete though. I attend most Challenger rounds and some Mud Monster rounds, such as today's Challenger.

Are you going to have magazine coverage of the build?
