P.S. the UFO near Madge Hill (Hognaston Winn) is  Trent  Doppler VOR (DVOR - Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Range)

Its a navigation point for aircraft.

They are a dying thing. With the use of GPS everyone knows where they are without straight line vectors from a VOR. The widespread use of GPS and computers in Air Traffic Control has also led to "direct routing" where aircraft no longer follow airways. Therefore VOR which mark key airways or turning points are on their way out. (I can still smell the smell of fried mouse, our furry friends love to chew the high voltage wires in the warmth of the electronics cabinets)
