Unless you have broken your vacuum hubs, which should still be under warranty, manual hubs aren't necessary. We're not being difficult, just trying to save you spending a hundred and fifty quid unnecessarily.

lt's a bit like asking if you could replace the engine in a Gen 4 Jimny with one from a Gen 3.
Well yes you could, if you really wanted, but why would you.
lf you post a question like that you are always going to get this kind of response, because people are genuinely interested as to why you would want to do it, and maybe that you don't understand how the 4wd system works on the Gen 4.

Actually l think the replies on here have been pretty good, try this kind of question over on the Land Rover forum and see what happens.!!
l know, l have in the past and it wasn't pretty.

I've just skimmed through that video. What he describes is not accurate to the Jimny. In the Jimny vacuum hubs and manual hubs both use the same sliding collar mechanism to engage and disengage the driveshafts. The only difference is how they are actuated. So in the instance of a broken front diff, both will give you the same ability to drive on in 2wd. And both offer the same fuel economy (freewheeling) benefits.
The downside of the vacuum system is that the hoses run under the car and can get damaged. The easy fix to this is to run them along the brake hoses and through the inner wings. This costs about £10 in parts and a couple of hours of your time.
If the system does fail on the trail it will stay in whatever mode you have selected, so you won't lose 4wd if you are already in 4wd. In an emergency the hubs can be permanently locked by driving a 20mm self tapping screw through the centre of the hub. This pushes the collar across to engage with the driveshaft. You then have a locked hub, as was found on standard Suzukis up until the 90s. You can leave it like this permanently or fix the vacuum leak and seal the hole to restore standard operation.

Most parts of the Gen 4 chassis and running gear are carried over from the Gen 3 and are directly interchangeable.

Land rover forums are dangerous places full of trolls and misinformation and the majority don't seem to have any kind of moderation. That kind of behaviour is never going to be tolerated here.
