If so then that's a serious missed opportunity.

Yes there should be a SZ4 option or indeed even an SZ3 (Some countries have a low spec model with things like basic lighting and wind up windows etc). This would keep the customers who throw dead sheep carcasses in the back happy.

However look at the Ford Ranger market. Yes there are poverty spec Rangers around for hauling rubble off to be illegally fly-tipped, but there are top of the range ones with all the bells and whistles for posing in or taking Jet-Ski's to the coast as part of the Birmingham Navy etc.

I think there should be a top spec version for posing, dog walking, shopping and DIY visits (or even off-roading)

They said they've no further details about a SZ5 spec one, only told about an SZ4.

Like you said, there's a market for someone who wants a decent infotainment system or a something with a few extras or alloy wheels etc. As much as there's a market for a bare bones one. Who knows, it's early days yet, give it a few more months to see what information is being released.

The whole MK4 being generally withdrawn has left me disappointed. I wasn't in a position last year to buy one and by the time I was they weren't taking new orders. It's not like this was seen coming down the track, Euro emissions regulations are published a long time out.

I would assume it's the same as the previous Gen4, 350kg unbraked, 1300kg braked and a 75kg towball nose weight. They have only removed the rear seats and classed it as a commercial vehicle to get around the EU emissions.

I was am hoping that because it's a commercial variant that Suzuki have enabled payload offsetting. This is where the manufacturer only stipulate the gross train weight and gross vehicle weight on the registration documents which allows for the payload of the vehicle to be used by the trailer so an empty car will be able to tow a heavier trailer so long as the combination weight is not exceeded. So for example you can tow 1300kg with 4 passengers in the road version and that's it whereas with the van you can tow 1300kg with the van full or say 1500kg if the van is just a driver. If you see what I mean.

I see where you are coming from, as a caravaner, you always want the car to be heavier than the caravan , otherwise the caravan will start to dictate the direction of the car.

We paid £24,000 for our near new SZ5 which had around £600 of extras on it.
For us it was the right car at the right time, and still a better bet than an "ordinary" car due to the likelihood of higher residual value over time.
For instance if we had bought a VW T-Roc at £24,000 we would already be down at least £6,000 on trade in.

However a quick look online (NOT the Suzuki website!!) reveals a few new/pre reg Jimny SZ5 at well under the £24,000 we paid. Although some
dealers are advertising Jimnys that don't exist when you call them.

Try Auto Trader. How about this one for a start?

You are using your Jimny as they were designed to be used.
lt's nice to see. l have to admit our Jimny is unlikely to venture far off road. Although we may holiday off the beaten track in it.
