Hi, I spend a lot of time in the Jimny and am no longer prepared to tolerate having the window switch in my right knee. I'm thinking of putting it on a carling next to the fog lights and abandoning the lock button and passenger duplicate. Is there any advice before taking the multi tool to the door card?

Being a lanky old man with painful knees, I too suffer from this Friday afternoon design afterthought.
My idea was....after removing the door card & looking at the wiring loom.... detach the switch bezel which is held on to the back of the door card by the usual melted plastic method and locate it In the front end of the magazine holder on the bottom of the door.
This would cause minimal cosmetic damage..., leaving the switches within reach...the loom feeds through an aperture to that position & the whole project could be easily reversed if required.

I take it it is just an idea!! Could be good.
Do you mean the sort of hand/arm rest that sticks out? Why not put some pilates material where the knee coincides?

It's not that it's hard and uncomfortable it's that I'm 6 foot and big with it and the switch is simply in the wrong place relative to where my knee is to be comfortable.

I would suggest removing the entire door wiring loom, and then you can carefully split the loom apart leaving the remote locking and heated mirror loom in place, and then extend modify the window loom as needs . I had to do something similar for the Dutton.
