Rockwatt seemed to think the Niva t-box was a good idea. Not sure if he had a solution to the l/h r/h output problem, but might be worth hitting him up about it. He had a handful of Niva t-boxes lying around his workshop a few years ago when I spoke to him about it.
He seemed to think the main obstacles were refabbing new mounts, and getting HD front shafts / CVs installed to cope with added stress of permanent 4x4.

Hmmm. This is making permanent rwd an increasingly likely proposition.

c'mon, we need a guinea pig, might just start a new craze amongst Jimny owners and you'd be able to say it was you who started it

To fit the lh drop case you basically have to mirror image the drive train.
-Flip the axles
-Move the fuel tank
-Reroute the exhaust
-Mod the tubular cross members to clear the drive shafts
Maybe some other stuff I've missed....
I'm going to fit an lt230 to mine (along with yota axles and auto box with a 250hp VAG 1.8t 20 valve up front)

Or mount the transfer box at the required angle, drill a new oil drain hole and bend the shift levers so they come up through the floor in the right place? Which would seem an easier option. It's just a box with some gears in. It doesn't know which way 'up' is.

No ollieNZ is right. To get the correct orientation you would have to rotate the box 180 through the vertical axis ant then drive it through the wrong side of the input flange, essentially turning it into a custom one off, not a bolt on and therefore outside my abilities.
