Howdy all. On my last Jim I had a superwinch tiger shark 9000lb wth synthetic rope, I got it brand new and paid 4-500 pounds or so.
I'm looking to get a winch On my new jimny but don't want to spend as much this time. There are a few cheaper brands out there are they any good? Iv seen winch max, winchit etc. Iv heard bad and good about cheaper winches but want to know what you guys think and what some of you have, experiences, what brands to avoid etc etc.
Thanks in advance.

Cheap = rubbish ... you generally get what you pay for.
I have a Warn M8000 - it was expensive, but I know that it works. Fast Spool Out and In.

Depends what you are using it for. Competition use, you need to spend good money.
If its just for recovery when out on a lane the speed is not an issue.
The cheaper ones are ok for occasional use but will be slower and the water proofing is not so good.
How often do you get stuck or go into deep water? On my old KJA, i had a good winch and only used
it twice. Its all down to cash V use.
In my offroad club some of the comp trucks are running 3 winches (some with twin motors) so they are
in for £3-£5 thousand in winches alone!! Fine if you have deep pockets.

No matter what.
I'd buy used quality over cheap new stuff any day.
Also, don't get fooled buy some of the cheap winches with synthetic rope. It's Chinese, all of it.

Thanks all for your replies. You've just confirmed what Iv always believed really. I was just hoping to hear something good so I can save some money haha. Il probably buy the same winch I had last tiem, superwinch TS 9500lb. Always worked and has great reviews.
New question though....I had the 12v last time and found it a little slow. Is this because of the size of the Jims battery (plus running a CB etc) ?? On my new Jim Iv got a LED bar and spots to, so even more to be powered. Is it worth getting a 2nd battery? And is it easy to
Do? (2006 vvt).
Thanks again all
