Winch advice please and thank you
It's better to just run one big battery or have a split charger than to link the standard battery directly to the new bigger one as one will discharge to the other due to the different sizes and will kill it.
I run one large Numax leisure battery in a Jimny Bits tray.

Kirkynut, are you able to put a pic of how you've wired it/the battery set up? Iv just bort a winch and will be using your idea of the leisure battery to power it.
Would be a great help thanks.

You need a very large crimp tool that you can hold in a vice to use - I borrowed one from my father in law as they are about £80.00. There is a new type out that you hit with a hammer that is cheaper now though.
Measure the space and be sure to get a battery that fits as my Numax - I think this one - www.tayna.co.uk/Numax-CXV35MF-P8275.html wouldn't fit with the bonnet down. I therefore had to "adjust" my bonnet strengthening structure with an angle grinder to gain clearance.
You don't need one that big and I think people use Optima Yellow tops in this position. Which size from their range I don't know. Perhaps have a chat with Jimnybits to see if they can tell you which batteries they know fit and are good for winching. The Numax batteries are good though and much cheaper.
Otherwise search this forum as I only know from reading on here.

kirkynut wrote: I don't have a picture unfortunately but essentially I just used 50mm square cable with very large crimp on ring connectors and bolted them to the original battery connections and insulated them well with insulation tape - especially the live and took them across the fire wall to the other side and the new battery with the same crimp on connectors.
