Says sammy axle shaft diameter is .940 in or 2.35 cmTomDK wrote:

The whole front axle is made from a slimmer plate and thus less durable to abuse. So, the smaller the axle, the smaller and less durable shafts Jimny Vs. Samurai. Stock shafts.
Jimny front axle is 6.5 cm in diameter. Same as the Samurai front axle.
Samurai front ring gear is 6.9". Same as Jimny.

Only samurai from before 1990 have 4 pin diff. Newer are 2 pin, just like the jimny.
samurai front diff is 10 bolt. Older jimny's are 8. So a bit more strength for the Sammy there. Also the Sammy has bigger CVs standard. But have heard from a local zuki expert that they are no stronger than jimny ones. Have never seen them compared in a dyno. So no hard facts on that one

So basically in the original post he wants to fit 33 inch tyres but knows the cv joints etc aren't strong enough, smoggy has a front axle with stronger shafts and cv joints that's also got an arb locker and heavy duty steering arms that will fit straight onto a Jimny for £600.

The £600 Samurai axle with difflock does sound appealing but I share Tom's concern about who welded on the radius arm mounts, how good is their welding and how good are they at getting them both straight and with the correct castor angle?
If someone like Rockwatt put them together then fine but otherwise I'd be wondering if I'd want to try them on the road. Having said that it would still be cheaper and better to buy the axle and send it to Rockwatt by courier for checking if he would and remedial work than buy the bits to upgrade a Jimny axle yourself!
